(More customer reviews)Perfect size- not too big- not too small. Strong pedals- making it easy to open the three seperate lids. (Pedals are usually the first thing to break!) The unit is aesthetically pleasing yet does not attract a lot of attention. The design is wonderfully practical: One bin for compost- one bin for recycle - one bin for trash. Everything has a place in one compact container. I also love the fact that the inside bins are removable making it easy to clean and take outside if you chose not to use a bag. GREAT product- especially for the price. I would highly reccomend.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this can to replace a "Simple Human" round 8 gallon trash can. The iTouchless had a slight problem upon arrival. The lid would only open half way when used in "automatic" mode. Went right to the returns section of Amazon.com and it was resolved with new can in hand by the NEXT day!!

This can works great, it holds a TON of stuff and it looks nice in a "country" kitchen. I find that the sensor is not overly sensitive. It is situated in a way that it faces up as opposed to down where it would pick up foot traffic and open. With two dogs, they do not set it off (medium sized dogs that are about 3 ft. tall).

Had some family over yesterday and they all admired it and had to try it out! Get one, you will not be sorry!
**UPDATE**: It's been TWO years now and the can is still going strong!! No problems whatsoever! (knock on wood!!)

(More customer reviews)Love this step can! We don't have a lot of cabinets in our kitchen so we needed a dog food container that would be out in the open. Most containers are either too industrial or cutesy looking and although I love my dogs I wanted to find something that fit it with the decor. It fits nicely in a corner by a small hutch and the removable inner basket is handy. Die hard dog food purists may not approve since the top is wicker so it isn't air tight but we only have a week's worth of food in it at a time and we get quality food so I'm not worried. Thankfully I have 1 very small dog and the other is too timid to open it otherwise it would not work. As for its intended use, it is not a large can so it would work best not as a main garbage can.

(More customer reviews)I am a proud cheakskate - some call me frugal or cautious, but I know I what I am. We had been using two cheap, thin, falling apart wire frame pull-out waste containers for about two years. I remember paying about $15 each at Wal-Mart. When I just couldn't take the weekly re-assembly (required every time we removed the trash bags), I knew there had to be something much better. Boy was I shocked when I started comparing prices! My frustration finally overcame my nature and I bit the bullet and made the purchase.
What a difference! Construction is very solid and the full extension slides glide with little effort. The trash bins are held firmly in place by the supports. Installation was extremly simple, consisting of nothing more than snapping the wire frame in place and attaching to the cabinet with four screws. Emptying the trash is now so much easier - no need to remove the bag, just take the whole container.
Pros:
Solid construction, full extension glides, came with trash bins, will last for years, waste bins are easily inserted and removed. This is a high quality product.
Cons:
A little pricey, no handle to pull out bins - we end up having to grab the top of the trash can to pull out.
Recomendation: if you are looking for a pull-out waste bin, and don't mind paying a little more for much higher quality, this is a great product for you.

(More customer reviews)I was hoping that recycling would mean I could dump my trash half as often, but the makers of this combined unit figured I would just toss half as much - instead of two 13-gallon bins, there are two much smaller bins (presumable 6.5 gallons).
Also annoying is the handle placement - if you use bags, you have to be clever about working them around the handle. Getting the bins out without the handle is very difficult as the top of the bins are inset. If you don't use bags, the bins are a bit big for a regular soap bath.
On the up side, it does look nice, and if you need two small bins, it's an excellent price (and probably takes up less space).

(More customer reviews)I saw this on another website for 35.00. I thought it was very attractive and it seemed to be well made, so I started looking around for a better price. I found it here for $21.09. I couldn't exactly tell what size it was because Amazon listed two different sets of dimensions: 10.1x8.5x8.5 inches under product features and 17.7x11x9.5 inches under product details. I ordered anyway hoping it would be the larger size. It wasn't. For the smaller size, IMO, it was still priced too high. Some of the seams have partially come apart on the inside, although it still looks great on the outside. Also, I see that Amazon has increased the price to $32.00. If you are looking for a small, but cute trashcan for your bathroom and don't mind the price, this is your guy. If you need something larger and more functional for the money, keep looking.

I opened the top of the box for a cursory inspection but didn't remove it from the box (I should have). On Christmas day, our son and his wife opened the package and removed the container; lo' and behold, both sides (front and rear) were dented badly; this was due to poor packaging by the mfgr in Taiwan. My son wanted an exchange for an undamaged one so we repackaged it and attempted an exchange with the vendor "Hold N Store" in NY. After many phone calls we managed to get an RMA and delivery of a replacement. (Customer Service at Hold N Store answered the phone with "Hello" - that's it. WTF?) They have the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Anyway, three weeks later we finally received the replacement - WHICH WAS ALSO DENTED. Oy Vey!! This time the dents were only on one side, but not as bad as on the first container. We accepted it because I didn't want to go through the trouble with the vendor again. The basic problem is very weak packaging by the manufacturer; there's no packaging reinforcement along the curved part of the container. The slightest kick or bump along the package's edge will cause a dent in the unit. It's all chrome steel so the slightest dent will show up dramatically. Do NOT buy any of these types of containers from Hold N' Store. Buy locally at Linens N' Things or Bed Bath & Beyond where you can return it locally if damaged (which it will be). In over ten years of buying from Amazon.Com this is the first time I've had so much trouble exchanging an item.

We use them to line a small covered waste pail, which we call a "cootie bin." We close the bag and empty the pail about once a week, throwing the bag into our compost pile.
