Put up with the squeaking for two months, then the sensor started malfunctioning. The lid would not close, then it would open twice, then it wouldn't open at all. Changing batteries did not help. Returned the can for a refund.

My husband did make a couple of wrong holes, but ultimately installed it in the perfect spot. It is pricier than the plastic roll outs, but it is very sturdy and should be maintenance and rust free.

(More customer reviews)Very sturdy! The only problem I found is the opening for the two (2) barrels.I bought my standard size barrels at HOME DEPOT, as did most of my neighbors. The opening is too tight to fit the two (2) barrels in comfortably. They have to be jammed in! If the dimensions were changed to 44"L x 24"W x 26"H it would be much more acceptable to the barrels we use. I understand it would raise the cost of the cart, but I would pay the difference for a replacement and buy another cart from you if the dimensions were changed, instead of looking for another brand at a different location. Just a thought, Bob Smith

We have placed several of them at our own properties and a couple out at local businesses. Here's what I like about them: (1) they hold up well, (2) with a little practice cans can be smushed so that they slide through the slot into the container without anyone having to touch the can, (3) because the container can only be accessed through the slot without removing the top we don't get all the extra garbage that gets thrown in many recycling containers, (4) because the can gets laid on it's side to be crushed, we don't get the half full cans of soda that get thrown in many recycling containers, (5) because of 3 and 4, the containers don't tend to attract bees as do other containers and (6)as was noted in the general write-up, the container can be lined and with the cans flattened the aluminum can be transported to the recycler without messing up your car. An additional benefit is that kids (and many grownups) enjoy using the crusher which decreases the number of cans that the organizers have to crush.

(More customer reviews)The can works by putting some pressure on the lid and it opens. The can is tall and thin. It works best with bags you buy manufactured by Brabantia. The problem for me arose about two years after buying the can. The lid has plastic hinges and one broke away. The lid would then not close. The can comes with a 10 year warranty and one would think that the manufacturer or retailer would issue a replacement. The problem is that the retailer has you go to Brabantia. If you call their US office in NJ you will find that no one picks up the telephone. OK, they have an email address. They will not answer an email. So much for spending $100+ on a trash can that touts itself on being engineered well and with a 10 year warranty. Next time I'll just spend $30 and get a Chinese cheapo.

We used it gently but the foot pedal mechanism broke. We contacted umbra and they were nice enough to send a replacement mechanism. BUT, it was for the wrong sized can and also when we flipped the can over we saw the flimsy plastic was just broken through, no replacement would have helped anyways. Totally disappointed...I could have bought a stainless steel one for just double the price of this plastic one...and now here I am having to buy a new can...off to do that now.
