It worked perfect first two months and then just stopped working without any reason (we use ac adapter, so it is not the problem with batteries). I contacted the manufacturer and they replaced it with the new unit. New one stopped work after 3 weeks. We decided to leave it as it was. And about a month ago (it was July) it started to work. Now it depends on the own mind of this trash can: we can't predict which day it will work and which it won't - it is random.

These bags are hard to find for my older appliance. At the store near where I live, they don't always have them in stock, and they are a lot more money for each package of 15.
They hold up well, and I change them once a week on trash day. I have never had a problem with them, and this vendor shipped them quickly and well packaged.

In the midst of cooking, when you need to throw something away, who wants to TOUCH the trashcan lid? What if you have something else in your other hand? What if your toe isn't ballet-dancer thin (for the tiny pedal openers)? The infra-red sensor picks up the warmth of your hand, and opens automatically. It's like living in the future! And the battery does last forever (or nearly). I've bought three more -- as birthday and housewarming gifts for friends and relatives, and am now buying another, larger one for myself. ALSO VERY IMPORTANT -- Dr. Uzo Ihenko (the owner) has always been great to deal with. The first one I bought, the older model, was not entirely to my liking. He facilitated the upgrade. He's helped in other ways, speeding delivery on gifts, etc. Any complaints? Well, the sound as it opens is a bit loud and for the first couple of weeks a bit high-pitched, but the sound gets deeper over time, and is easy to get used to and the product is still an absolute joy. (My sister says it's the best gift I EVER gave her.) Highly recommended!

The wastebasket lid just falls off on the floor, if you try to raise the lid. There is no way to attach the lid. It is obviously a defective product. The shipping on the 12.72 cent item was 8.67. A ripoff!!!! And there is not even a person to talk to.

I spent the money anyway because I really didn't have a good place to mount a crusher and this is the only one I could find that works on a table top and doesn't have to be mounted. A nice side benefit of not having it mounted, and the fact that there are no metal parts that can rust, means that when my husband has been using it on cans that have not completely dried out and it gets all sticky I can just run it through the dishwasher.

I saw that smaller storage chests are just too small. One of them had a number of reviews saying that you can't even put cushions to 4 chairs in there. I knew we needed something bigger.
We are thrilled with this storage chest. My husband said it was a pleasure to put together - ridiculously easy - no tools required and the plastic pieces just snap together! I wish I could say the same for the rest of our patio furniture! Also, this item is extremely well-made. You can open the lid, or prop the lid up with the stick provided (like a grand piano's small stick) and open the doors. You can also put a padlock on it.
This is an attractive addition to our patio and it holds our 8 cushions with room to spare!

(More customer reviews)Six years ago, when we purchased our GE Monogram compactor, it came with bags. They were very thick, the bottoms were pleated for perfect fit and they had holes for the "buttons" on the sides to keep the bags from sliding when compacting. For a couple of years, we could purchase similar bags from GE, but they were pretty costly for such an item. What has happened, GE? Thinner bags, flat, with no holes. It was a lot of work to make the bag fit--well, almost fit. Half the price, I have to admit, but then, you get what you pay for. I am tempted to order directly from GE and see if there is a difference. I am wondering if GE provides these bags of poorer quality so they can be sold cheaper. (I used amazon, because it was easy. The bags came quickly, no complaint there.)

These bags are well constructed so that even though the lining is not wide it certainly is very strong. These bags will not break when you carry them unless you have grossly over-stuffed them. Most people have an intuitive sense of when the bags have been filled enough so this shouldn't be a problem.
The bags are easy to close by tying them at the top with the drawstrings that come with them. I myself tie the white bag up with a knot; then I secure the bag even more by tying it a second time using the yellow tie strings so garbage just can't get out.
The bags are about the right price and single people or people who have a small family will appreciate the 13 gallon size of each bag. However, persons with large families may prefer to use a 30 gallon garbage bag.
One caveat for today's world with its' rampant identity theft: the bags are white--not black. This makes it easier for somebody to see what is in the bag. If privacy is a concern get Hefty black garbage bags.
Overall, these durable garbage bags provide a reliable and durable bag for the daily chore of taking out the garbage. They are priced right and you'll love them once you try them. If security issues concern you use a shredder for discarded paperwork before placing it into these white colored bags. You can also use the Hefty black bags instead.
