It was easy to put together but the locking cams were made of such cheap material that one even broke during assembly. Additionally, the black coloring practically rubs off. Let me save you some disappointment, do not buy this.

Makes a wonderful and classy addition to the kitchen. The directions were rough and you have to be super careful when putting it together not to splinter the wood or to go all the way through the wood. Don't use a power drill - it is tough by hand but you won't make a mistake. Other than that, wonderful piece. Glad I got it and loved the free shipping by the vendor.
