Large Can Crusher 400 Cans Recycle or Fundraiser Review

I bought a number of these a few years ago. We use the money raised to support a non-profit program for girls. We have placed several of them at our own properties and a couple out at local businesses. Here's what I like about them: (1) they hold up well, (2) with a little practice cans can be smushed so that they slide through the slot into the container without anyone having to touch the can, (3) because the container can only be accessed through the slot without removing the top we don't get all the extra garbage that gets thrown in many recycling containers, (4) because the can gets laid on it's side to be crushed, we don't get the half full cans of soda that get thrown in many recycling containers, (5) because of 3 and 4, the containers don't tend to attract bees as do other containers and (6)as was noted in the general write-up, the container can be lined and with the cans flattened the aluminum can be transported to the recycler without messing up your car. An additional benefit is that kids (and many grownups) enjoy using the crusher which decreases the number of cans that the organizers have to crush.

This is a great tool for crushing cans and keeping them out of sight. Simply lift the handle, insert the can and crush it. The flat can then falls into the large plastic drum. This thing is made of super tough plastic for long life. It is a pleasant light gray color. It will never rust! This is a great recycler for cafeterias, game rooms, company picnics, bars, tail gators, or just anywhere that aluminum cans build up. Not only does it keep housekeeping to a minimum but it also makes it easy to transport a lot of cans since they are flat. Just install a trash bag and you don't even have to handle nasty cans. Plus you can sell the cans and pay for the recycler. For instance. Cans are selling for about 50 cents a pound right now. That works out to about 6.65 per bag of crushed aluminum cans. The unit will pay for itself in 9 bags of cans and makes a wonderful demonstration for school children concerning recycling. Not only are you doing the right thing for humanity but RECYCLING PAYS BACK CASH and you can prove it easily.Makes a great fund raising tool also for any kind of event as you can easily tabulate the donations. And everyone crushes their own cans so the work load is reduced.Overall height is about 34" and it weighs about 15 lbs in the box. Will be shipped either Fedex or Parcel Post, whichever is less.Note that this can crusher is designed for standard 12 oz. aluminum cans. Other sizes will not fit.

Pacific Fabrication 77702 Easy Crush Can Crusher Review

I have had a Pacific since 1992 and have to say it was a workhorse. It is a high quality bullet proof crusher. I used it for 17 years and then the handle broke. I had used it so much the metal worn down and made the handle thin where the holes in the handle pivot on the crusher arms. I ordered another one but this time I will reverse the handle after 10 years. I think I will get 20 plus years on my second one. I might put a drop of oil on it once a year.
I do not think you will find a better made product, you should get a minimum of 15 years without any problem.

Pacific Precision Metals THE CRUSHER Aluminum Can Compactor Review

I would rate this aluminum can crusher 4 out of 5 stars out of the box and only following the supplied instructions. BUT here is how to make it a 5 out of 5 product and arguably the best crusher for functionality, value, and price.
What I did right from the start:
1. Use bolts. washers, and nuts to secure it to a solid surface. I drilled neat and appropriate holes in the side of my cupboard and fastened the crusher over my sink. Using the supplied screws will likely result in them pulling loose from the surface. A great deal of pressure and force (although easy to pull) is used to crush the can to abt 1". With bolts and nuts the Crusher stays secure and shouldn't rip away from the wall. Also, the small amount of liquid from the cans drips right into the sink.
2. Alter the bottom lip of the Crusher so cans will not shoot out the front side while crushing them. They can become quite the missle as they shoot across the room. This alteration is accomplished in one or two ways. Use pliers to bend the bottom lip up abt 3/8 to 1/2". The cans will then stay firm in the Crusher unit as they are compacted. OR you can drop a large head screw or bolt in the hole (already in the product) in the bottom of the lip. This will assist in keeping the can from slipping out. The first method seems to function the best in my experience.
3. Lubricate the inner/outer moving parts with Crisco type shortening or paste. I use this since it is near my sink and dishes. If your Crusher is not near food or cooking items then any oil lubricant or grease would work.
I mounted my Crusher to function with left-hand (I'm right-handed but because of medical reasons my left is much stronger)operation. Be sure to mount it for your convenience and functionality
The lever on the Crusher is fairly easy to pull. A quick fast pull functions best for me and the unit really does crush aluminum (no thick metal or some small pet food cans)cans to about 1/2". Crushed cans require about 5 times less space than un-crushed ones.
The surface of the unit is white, attractive, and durable and blends in quite well with my kitchen decor.
In summary, I don't know what I'd do without the Crusher. It performs better than expected, is durable, attractive, and the price is very reasonable. I read several reviews regarding numerous crushers and this one seemed to me to have the greatest potential and with some adjustments it can be about the best one around.
I hope this review is helpful and your cans become flattened as you contribute to Recycling and the betterment of us liquid-drinking species.

The crusher's sturdy all-steel construction is durable, with an easy-to-grab handle that makes it easy to operate. Simply hold the crusher's handle and pull it down. The crusher is easy to hang on the wall and measures approximately 16 inches long.

Easy Pull EP1026 Auto Dispensing Can Crusher Review

I bought this to replace my old "The Crusher" (also sold here), which gave up the ghost after 12 years. I wasn't entirely satisfied with The Crusher for several reasons, so decided to try another brand. Before describing the Easy Pull, let me mention the problems with The Crusher. First, it would occasionally spit out a partially crushed can - more so as it got older. Second, I felt the cans could be crushed a bit flatter. Third, although the construction was sturdy, the main pivot was made of sheet metal and it simply wore through over time (with a better pivot, it would probably last forever).
Moving on to the Easy Pull. I bought it because several reviewers here recommended it. It installed easily on my wall in the garage with two nice, long bolts. A note on installation. Because you will be applying some force, it needs to be mounted solidly - easiest is to find a wall stud. Second, be sure it is at a convenient height for operation. Third, find a location where it is convenient to place a sack or other receptacle under the unit to collect crushed cans.
The design of the Easy Pull is clever. Through a combination of levers, the can tilts forward as it is crushed. When the handle is then lifted up, the can drops out. The unit operates easily and smoothly, and the cans are crushed a little flatter than my old The Crusher. If you have a lot of cans to crush, you can go very fast, up to 15 - 20 cans per minute.
I'm impressed with the design and happy with the Easy Pull. My only concern is durability, as it is made mostly of plastic. It has a 30 day warranty, but will it still work 5 years from now? I am so impressed with the design that I would be happy to pay 10 or 15 dollars more for a "heavy duty" version.
Overall, I recommend the Easy Pull because it works so well, but with the understanding that I am not sure how long it will last.
July 13, 2008 UPDATE: Well, here we are eight months later and the crusher is still working fine, crushing 3 to 6 cans per day. My concerns about durability have been laid to rest.
August 24, 2009 UPDATE. Some bad news and some good news to report. First the bad news. After two years of service, my Easy Pull developed problems. The guide rods that go through the top crushing block began to bind. This was because the holes in the top block began to wear and the block didn't slide straight down the rods any more. The unit became unusable. I posted that information here. Now the good news. After posting a comment here, the Easy Pull folks called me to apologize for the problem. The head of the company indicated that failures such as my unit developed are rare indeed. The top block was modified about two years ago to address the binding issue and most likely my unit was one of the older versions. He noted the Easy Pull has been tested extensively and that it should give many years of service. They sent me a replacement unit, and I am once again happy. I will add that the collection bin, which slides onto the bottom of the unit, is a nice feature. Also, folks should be aware of the maintenance notice on the side of the crusher that says you should apply a dab of lubricant (e.g., petroleum jelly) occasionally.
I am very impressed that the company reached out to me. Never had that happen before. The upper block modification he described to me sounds reasonable and like it should work. I was also impressed that they seem earnest about making a quality product. I'm back to merrily crushing cans and will update this review as time goes by.
August 26, 2010 UPDATE. I've been using the replacement unit for a year and all is well. The top block shows no signs of wear and it is crushing cans perfectly. I didn't think I would like the collection bin, but it is really a nice convenience.
