(More customer reviews)I purchased this Rubbermaid wastebasket through Amazon and it was shipped by BIC Superstores. I tried to call them but just got an answering machine.
The wastebasket lid just falls off on the floor, if you try to raise the lid. There is no way to attach the lid. It is obviously a defective product. The shipping on the 12.72 cent item was 8.67. A ripoff!!!! And there is not even a person to talk to.

(More customer reviews)I bought a number of these a few years ago. We use the money raised to support a non-profit program for girls. We have placed several of them at our own properties and a couple out at local businesses. Here's what I like about them: (1) they hold up well, (2) with a little practice cans can be smushed so that they slide through the slot into the container without anyone having to touch the can, (3) because the container can only be accessed through the slot without removing the top we don't get all the extra garbage that gets thrown in many recycling containers, (4) because the can gets laid on it's side to be crushed, we don't get the half full cans of soda that get thrown in many recycling containers, (5) because of 3 and 4, the containers don't tend to attract bees as do other containers and (6)as was noted in the general write-up, the container can be lined and with the cans flattened the aluminum can be transported to the recycler without messing up your car. An additional benefit is that kids (and many grownups) enjoy using the crusher which decreases the number of cans that the organizers have to crush.

This is a great tool for crushing cans and keeping them out of sight. Simply lift the handle, insert the can and crush it. The flat can then falls into the large plastic drum. This thing is made of super tough plastic for long life. It is a pleasant light gray color. It will never rust!This is a great recycler for cafeterias, game rooms, company picnics, bars, tail gators, or just anywhere that aluminum cans build up. Not only does it keep housekeeping to a minimum but it also makes it easy to transport a lot of cans since they are flat. Just install a trash bag and you don't even have to handle nasty cans. Plus you can sell the cans and pay for the recycler.For instance. Cans are selling for about 50 cents a pound right now. That works out to about 6.65 per bag of crushed aluminum cans. The unit will pay for itself in 9 bags of cans and makes a wonderful demonstration for school children concerning recycling. Not only are you doing the right thing for humanity but RECYCLING PAYS BACK CASH and you can prove it easily.Makes a great fund raising tool also for any kind of event as you can easily tabulate the donations. And everyone crushes their own cans so the work load is reduced.Overall height is about 34" and it weighs about 15 lbs in the box. (More customer reviews)I'm fairly certain this will be my last can crusher, having worn out several before! I have been using this for about 6 months now and it has been perfectly dependable. Came fast, mechanism ships inside the detachable bin inside the shipping box.
It took about two minutes to mount on the garage wall with the screws that were included. It crushes well and operates smoothly, all members of my household have been able to use it with ease and safety. The plastic bin catches everything and is easy to very empty.Pros
Heavy plastic with some stainless steel, will not rust.
Clean and contained.
Long life
Can be operated without bin, like above a large garbage can.
Makes drinking beer even more fun!
Cons
Bigger than most crushers.
Payoff takes a bit longer.
Does not work well on mini-cans like v-8 juice.

May not work with some 16oz cans.

We bought this for disposing of dog waste on a daily basis until it's ready to go in the garbage can and it works well for this purpose. The lid closes tight and is tamper-proof. I contacted the seller for additional information and received a response very quickly and she was very helpful. A great all round experience!

(More customer reviews)I am very well pleased with this covered wastebasket. It is sturdy, yet attractive, and manages to be large enough (for my kitchen) without being too bulky! Better yet, I did NOT have to purchase four of them (unfortunately, Steritite wastebaskets are usually only sold in packages of four...which ends up costing considerably more money overall! So this ONE was well-worth the somewhat higher shipping cost. Another plus is this wastebasket's touch-top latch button, which is very well constructed (unlike the Rubbermaid product's one), and looks like it will last for quite some time. It manages to keep my foxhounds out of the trash (which is a feat onto itself!), so I am super-pleased with this wastebasket!

When it arrived- I was so excited. It was packaged very well, so there was no damage to the product. The color is exactly what I expected (some "red" trash can actually look rust)- it was bright red. It is easy to operate and is a great size. Most cans I was finding were 20-30 litre. The shape is unique and it fits nicely along a wall. I would definately recommend this product!

(More customer reviews)I bought two of these--one for garbage, one for bottles--and basically, no complaints so far.
They fit in VERY small space in two spots in my tiny kitchen, so I'd say it's a great can for smaller apartments.
And since I live in the city and get my groceries in those smaller plastic carry-bags, I use them for liners: I just wrap one "handle" of the bag around the metal handle for the inside liner, then let the metal handle fall back down, and it holds the bag perfectly, even when it's full of garbage. No, it doesn't fill up the can entirely--I'd have to buy bigger garbage bags for that--but 1) I don't want to pay extra for bags when I have these around the house, 2) I like to empty my garbage every day, so I don't really need bigger bags, and 3) if I used bigger bags, I'm not sure how I'd "attach" them--I guess I'd have to fold them over the outside of the can? Ugly....
I'd buy these again, they save space and seem very sturdy.

(More customer reviews)I previously had a pretty but useless round trash bin with a circular lid. This trash can is awesome. It's easy to assemble, and the pedal works very nicely. I also like how the lid moves back down slowly and gracefully - it's a nice touch so you don't have to hear the can slamming all the time. I put a large Hefty bag inside, and this works well. Smells are pretty well contained, and if you can smell something, that means it's really been way too long. Foot pedal seems to be pretty durable, and feels substantial when you step on it.
I don't have children/pets so I cannot speak to the effectiveness of the lock.
Minor complaint: Can't really place is flush against the wall since the hinge sticks out. This isn't a huge problem but you notice it. You have to place the can a few inches away from the wall. I still give it five stars because I don't think this affects the functionality, or the joy it has brought into my disheveled life. Highly recommend this can. Very nice to look at and easy to keep clean.
