Many well thought out features that are surprisingly useful: (1) Pedal so you don't need to use your hands, (2) an inner bucket that lifts right up neatly (no spilling) to take right to the composter, (3) no odors coming out of it, (4) no bugs! (but we did have bugs when we tried to reuse the same plastic liner for several months, so best change the bags more regularly when dumping out for compost). And it looks pretty in the kitchen.

Other than the cumbersome disadvantage to this automated touch-less trash can, I think the only advantage is its roomy compartment minus the lid which really obstructs the way you try to stuff the can with trash. (More customer reviews)I purchased the itouchless 2 compartment recycle center trashcan about 6 months ago. Yesterday the hindge on the lid snapped and a piece of it went flying off. My husband and I heard it snap all the way from another room so we weren't even using it at the time. Since the hindge just snapped while it was not being opened or closed and the trashcan has only received the normal house hold useage I would say that it is a design flaw. I will post further on my experience with tying to have it replaced under warranty.
As far as the touchless control goes the control easily becomes confused and has to be reset by having to press the controls on the front of the trashcan. This happens several times a day so it does kind of defeat the whole not having to touch a dirty trash can sales pitch.

(More customer reviews)This ashtray works pretty good. It snuffs lit cigs when they are put into the hole at the top. I suppose there just isnt enough air in the unit to keep them burning. Plus I like the height of the thing. The other astrays Ive seen make you bend over to use them. It is also very easy to take apart and put back together. It snaps. No screws, or threads at all. It also has a small galvanized pail that holds all the old butts. Just grab the handle and dump in the trash. Clean and easy.
It also sheds water pretty good. I had to add sand to the inside to keep wind from moving it though. It was too light. Other than that we like it a lot as it keeps the area outside the door clean. Highly recommended.

This is one great little outdoor ashtray. It is made of extemely tough plastic which you would think would melt with hot cig butts going in. But no! It has a METAL bucket in the bottom to catch the butts. I searched several stores and the only one that was not broken at the hinges was a display model. I ordered one online and got it quickly to find out it was broken at the thin part where the hinge attaches to the top - like all of the others. After that I gave up even though I really wanted this trash can. I hope Oxo strengthens the hinge area since this is a sharp looking and practical can. Now if they only added a second space for recyclables.

The wastebasket lid just falls off on the floor, if you try to raise the lid. There is no way to attach the lid. It is obviously a defective product. The shipping on the 12.72 cent item was 8.67. A ripoff!!!! And there is not even a person to talk to.
