While the can and shovel are heavy/sturdy enough, the black paint applied to both doesn't hold up well to hot coals. When shoveling out the woodstove, the hot coals in the can blistered the paint and actually caused it to burn. The whole house smelled like burned paint and it took some time with a floor fan at the patio door to draw the smoke out of the house.
It might make more sense to have the can and shovel "blued" as they do with firearms, as opposed to painted.

(More customer reviews)The bucket is well made and well priced, made from light but strong steel. However, the printing on the side looks cheap - the letters in Bucket spell RLICKET because the thin parts of the letters just weren't printed properly.
It wasn't enough for me to return it, but I certainly would not have bought it in store.

(More customer reviews)Can't find anything like this locally. Decent price and it does a good job of holding my wood stove ashes. My only complaint is that the lid does not necessarily "lock" into place. The handle does clip in over the lid, but not sure if it is air tight. I think it is more than safe as long as you don't fill it to the very top.
