(More customer reviews)This is a cool item for the kitchen. We've had one for over a year, and it is just what we need. We also have the big trash can, which is also great. The problem with these items is that they are made to work for a year, then die off. Does this sound familiar? You have to take the attitude that they are expendable, and you will have to replace them - otherwise, it would get 5 stars - my experience is that a handy person can't fix them.

(More customer reviews)I got this trash can to put on the counter next to my coffee maker for discarded Sweet & Low packages. I love how it fits in with my black and stainless appliances. The item itself works pretty good for the most part. The only issue I have found with it is the lid fits loosely on the base and slides off when putting something in it. to remedy the issue, I am planning to drill a tiny hole in the sides and out a tiny hand screw on each side of the lid to hold it firmly in place.
I'm not sure if a review is the appropriate forum to mention that actually finding this item or one like it on the web was very difficult to locate. Perhaps additional keywords can be added to the item to make it easier to find. I used search terms like "mini trash can," counter top trash can," "small waste basket," small stainless steel trash can," but none of these got me to this item. I'm not sure how my husband finally found it.

I put the thin 'produce' plastic bags in this and toss all my veggie cuttings and eggshells and stuff in here and then toss the bag when it gets full or after a few days. It keeps my minimal counter space cleaner while I'm working in there for sure. Perhaps it's not a necessity in life, ok, but I actually like it pretty well.

(More customer reviews)I moved into a new apartment about 6 months ago and needed some fresh trashcans (since I didn't keep all of them from my previous home). I searched high and low at discount stores, home stores, Amazon, etc. But non had the exact trashcan style and size that I was looking for.
Then I came across these Umbra eco-friendly trashcans. A bit reluctant to order a trash can online (although I do buy just about everything else online) I tried one out.
I am very pleased and have since ordered a couple more. These are a great size for a home-office, bathrooms, closet (to throw dry-cleaning tags into), etc. The bright colors inside the cans are a pleasant surprise when changing the bags out.
These are sturdy, nicely made trash cans and I highly recommend them.
