Also, and I'm assuming this was done to falsely increase shipping weight/cost, but it arrived with a used, broken frying pan in the box as well, which was not part of the intended order at all. Rather than go through all of the hassle of returning the item and waiting for a return shipment, I've chosen to never order from this supplier (Simplehuman) again, and post my experience here...

(More customer reviews)Had this product for a little less than 2 months. We thought it was the greatest trash can ever, until the latching mechanism on the lid broke. It is a poor quality, non-durable, double-prong plastic latch. It just doesn't look durable enough to withstand the constant opening/closing needed for a trash can. For the price, we expected something long-lasting. Now we have a trash can without a lid, not the greatest thing to have with little ones running around.

It is weighted nicely, has a good size footprint, and closes tightly enough to keep pets out. The smaller can works just as well. This is such a good set for the price, I bought a set for my parents' house, too! The only negative I can report is that the steady lid open feature does not work well.
