I also didn't like the step bins that are commonly available - even the expensive ones look really nasty. I discovered the Brabantia "touch" kitchen bin in England and when I came back I found it on Amazon. It looks a long time to arrive (3 weeks) but it was worth the wait, and the price isn't as high as other step bins. It's made in Belgium and looks and feels high quality. Also the touch lid (it springs open when you push it and clicks shut) is very satisfying. Actually it is addictive. All in all, a great look for the kitchen and worth the price.

If I let things set in the bag more than 5 days the bags start to leak as they start to break down. And breaking down is what I want them to do as I put them into my compost bin. Even in winter I notice that they start breaking down rather quickly. I am sure by spring when I am ready to use my compost these bags will be fully intergrated into my compost.

(More customer reviews)These bins are very small, and will not hold a day's worth of recycle-able material from my small family. Further, my husband explained to me that the bins must be mounted to the floor to work. I had envisioned them being mounted to the side of our cabinets (which we plan to replace in a few years anyway). We are not willing to ruin our new wood floors for the pull out feature. We then thought, (because the buckets are so small) that we could put it under our kitchen sink. Unfortunately, that will not work due to the garbage disposal being in the way. Finally, the seller can only be contacted thru email in order to get the information needed to return the product. More than thirty hours after attempting to contact the seller thru email I have not recieved a response. I am very disappointed.
