(More customer reviews)If you look at one of the pics you'll see what look like small red/orange spots at the corners. These are little tabs that are supposed to hold the corners together. As one reviewer said ... they don't. The box just falls apart at the corners no matter how you try to reinforce it, and no matter how gently you fill the box. I am a very experienced gardener/composter and good with tools. I can find SOME use for almost everything I have ever purchased for the garden. Well, I met my match. Keter should be ashamed for putting this piece of junk on the market. It's not worth 88 cents, and it's not worth the one star that I was forced to give it.
By the way, other than falling apart, it's a nice box.

(More customer reviews)I have been using the Garden Gourmet, which is exactly like the 2 here on Amazon, for over 10 years. Same dimensions and same configuration. They are one of the sturdy ones I've tried. And I've tried over 50 composters. Only comment about an earlier comment is this unit is NOT intended for use with worms. This composter needs to reach at least 120 degrees (more like 140) for 21 days....Then unload the entire contents and seperate the ready from the fresh. Worms will not survive above +70 degrees.
On the assemble: It takes a little patience and pay attention to the instruction of the first two layers...They define the front opening, (vertical sliding door)and all those pieces need to SNAP into place to make it strong.
In bear or other country, You can use rebar or steel rods to anchor the four corners the bin,,,,,,,Just DON"T put meat in this bin and you should be fine.
Racoons are a pest..........Take a bungee cord to lock the top

(More customer reviews)I bought a composting bin a number of years ago, completely oblivious to what is involved in composting. Toss stuff in and it "magically" turns to compost. Wrong! Compost has to be turned, I later learned. So the bin was emptied and has been sitting in my backyard for quite some time as it does not facilitate easily turning the compost (or turning it at all for that matter). I came across turning, tumbling, and spinning composters and selected this one. I transferred the stuff I had been tossing in a trash can (in hopes of the "magic" happening) into this composter. Wow! One week later, and it looks and smells wonderful! It still has a ways to go, and I still have more learning to do on the subject, but this composter has made the job very easy--almost not a "job" at all! I will more than likely continue composting for years to come because this composter makes it so simple and clean.

Not what I would expect for $50. This compost pail would not be a bad deal if it were $20, but for almost $50 the quality just isn't there. I'm thinking about retuning it.

Con: When I opened the box it came in there was not even a sheet of paper explaining about the filter top. At first I tried to open the top, then realized that wouldn't happen.
Had to spend my time several days to try and find out about filter replacement. Called Amazon and then emailed them. Finally received the phone number of the manufacturer and ultimately talked with a live person. It turns out you just remove the filter by pulling it out of opening and replacing it with a new one. All it would take is a simple piece of paper explaining this.

(More customer reviews)This is a ceramic container about 9" high and 6" diameter. It's bigger than a typical sugar jar but much smaller than a wastebasket. It has a lid with holes and a charcoal filter inside to control odors. It's being sold as a place to keep fruit peelings and the like before transporting them outside to a compost pile. It's supposed to look like a white porcelain version of a garbage can, in case you are charmed to have a white garbage can on your kitchen counter. The same or a similar product appears to be sold under the names Pinzon, Norpro, RSVP.
This is the sort of item which is designed by some marketing person, then made and sold without ever have been tested in practice. Families who compost tend to have at least four members and be inclined towards fruits and vegetables - so the volume of stuff they generate for composting would fill up this container very quickly. Also, there is an annoying design flaw; the inside bottom has a deep cleft which is difficult to clean and slow to dry after being washed. Which would have been discovered immediately if the people who produce this ever actually tried it in their own home. To put out a consumer product without testing it - I hate it when that happens.
Before buying, go to the the Norpro version on Amazon and see the 83 reviews, which are evenly distributed from "Just what I needed" to "Too small, too fragile, rather have a stainless version."
If not for the fact that it's absurdly small, can't be cleaned easily, and is quite fragile, it might have been good for composting. In the meantime, this size of container is useful - I just made a huge batch of granola and filled up my new mini- garbage can with it!

(More customer reviews)I have abused this trash can more severely than any other item I own. Mine has been put to use in ways I'm sure its designers could never have intended, but it has held together nontheless. Whether you're using it to build snowmen, cage small animals that have invaded your garage, or kick repeatedly to take out the aggression that goes along with spring cleaning, this trash can will not take much damage. And yes, it also keeps those small animals I mentioned out of your trash if that's your goal. Slap some duct tape on the lid to keep it from being torn off and you've got a fortress in which to store your more delicious trash. Not even the most cunning racoon will be able to breach its walls.
True enough, mine is dented in many places (though only slightly), and the one drawback to its design is that the bottom is about a half inch off the ground, meaning heavier loads can cause stress to its structure. Fortunately, any major dents can be beaten back into shape, and the only reason the bottom of mine is sagging is because of an extremely heavy load I once used this can to transport.
If you need a sturdy trash can and you don't want to pay a ton of money for a Brute-brand can, then go with this one. A lesser can would be scattered around my lawn in pieces, but this one has survived and remains the most durable trash can I have ever owned.
