The thing that makes the Torro unit much better than the Fiskars offering is its much larger size. The smaller Fiskars unit may be better suited for Grandma. The price bounces around so get it when its on sale.

Sterilite White Ultra Touch-Top Wastebasket 28 Qt. Review

Sadly the spring hinge on one side of the lid finally broke after all this time so I'm off to buy another one. I've been very satisfied with this product.

What are the things that annoy you about your current trash can? If it's a step can you have to hold the pedal down with your foot which can be awkward if you're reaching back and forth at the same time to clear a counter. And no matter what kind of can you have, the liner problem can certainly be very frustrating, as soon as you dump trash in the entire liner collapses and gets dirty. And the liner bag hanging over the can isn't all that attractive either. I have to say that although this can is not the largest on the market, it is EXTREMELY durable. The plastic is very heavy gauge and seems to have no problem withstanding the cold Chicagoland winter temperatures. No matter how heavy I load it up, the can keeps its shape and stands up to any abuse I or the garbage man throw at it. Also, the lid snaps on easily and very securely so there is no danger of it blowing off overnight.
In my opinion this is the best wheel-less trash can you can buy!
