I've had this trashcan for over a year now. It is a workhorse and the click-top works GREAT. That is, until I accidentally knocked a spring out of it cleaning it.
I looked everywhere for a replacement spring with no success. Finally, it occurred to me to write the company and explain my predicament - I didn't want to replace the entire garbage can, which was still in great condition, for the sake of one tiny little spring.
The company promptly sent me replacement springs, no questions asked. What a great response from a company that is ecologically responsible enough to create non-disposable items they can send replacement parts for, and who is obviously more concerned with keeping customers happy with their quality merchandise than creating bigger profit margins and more plastic for landfills. YAY, Sterilite! You have gained a customer for life.

(More customer reviews)I first purchased one at The Container Store and used it for over a year. It's wonderful, especially when I realized it keeps both the dog and baby out of the trash. So I changed all the trashcans in the house to this. I'm glad I did because she's already figured out how to open the "step-on" type trashcans.
I did buy a target brand touch-top and I returned it after using it for a week. The touch-top on the target brand broke. This Sterilite is very heavy duty and I'm so happy I was able to buy a multi-pack from Amazon!

(More customer reviews)I've had one of these in daily use for almost eight years. Touch the tab on the front of the wastebasket and the lid pops open. Sadly the spring hinge on one side of the lid finally broke after all this time so I'm off to buy another one. I've been very satisfied with this product.

What are the things that annoy you about your current trash can? If it's a step can you have to hold the pedal down with your foot which can be awkward if you're reaching back and forth at the same time to clear a counter. And no matter what kind of can you have, the liner problem can certainly be very frustrating, as soon as you dump trash in the entire liner collapses and gets dirty. And the liner bag hanging over the can isn't all that attractive either. Sterilite presents functional solutions to all these problems with a lid that springs open with a touch and remains open until you close it and a retaining ring system that keeps bags in place and out of sight.
