(More customer reviews)I know this is just a plastic step trash can, but it is nice looking, user-friendly plastic step trash can. It does not look like plastic - the matte chocolate brown has a nice texture and is visually appealing. The step plate is made out of metal so it is more durable where it will see the most wear and tear. The lid opens smoothly, stays open for a moment and then slowly lowers. Don't ask me how they did that. That's some pretty slick engineering for a plastic trash can. That's a nice feature when you are scraping off plates or taking the bag out. I hate having to stand on the step to keep the lid from slamming down. The lid has enough of an over hang so that it obscures the trash liner from view somewhat which is also nice. And it takes standard kitchen trash bags.
It also has a sliding lock for the lid, and while I don't have children or dogs, I can see how this feature would be appreciated.
My only criticism is that the handle is plastic, painted to look like metal (to match the step plate) and the paint got worn away during shipping so now it screams plastic. I think it could have been packed a little better. I am exchanging mine because I really like this product and I like the look and want it to look nice. And yes, it's just a plastic step trash can, but it's a good little plastic step trash can.
